The Greatest Gift of All

Growing up, I didn’t celebrate Christmas in the way the world celebrates the holiday.

I was taught that everyday is a celebration of Jesus, remembering His birth, life, death and resurrection as a foundation of my Christian faith and the grace that His sacrifice afforded me.

While there were no Christmas trees in my house during the month of December, my brother and I were reminded of the eternal tree of life where we could always find solace.

No presents filled our home during the Christmas holiday, yet we celebrated the best present to ever grace the earth: our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My Christmases looked different from everyone else’s, but I understood the real reason for the season.

Before creation, God was already light years ahead of us. He knew that one day, humankind would fail and fall short of what was asked of us. God knew one day that sin would enter the world and that we would desperately need His grace.

He loved us so much that He sent His only son, so we could be restored into right relationship with him.

As we enter the last month of 2020, a year of what can be characterized as a year of insanity, let’s find normalcy and reflect on the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus was both fully man and fully God; He overcame the world, so we could have everlasting life.

Below are 32 verses to help us celebrate Jesus Christ, the greatest gift God has ever given us.

May this Christmas be filled with a deeper connection to God and a celebration of the Word becoming flesh, lowering himself to be like us, only to later die on the cross to forgive the world of sin.
